A few of my favorite things
By Hayley Bledsoe
It’s officially the most wonderful time of the year. I’ll admit, I’m one of those people that starts celebrating Christmas on November 1. It’s truly my favorite season. Unfortunately, gift giving can be a stressful task as finding the perfect present sometimes feels impossible. It never fails that the week before Christmas I’m usually rushing to find that one last thing on my list.
Each year, I look forward to perusing the various gift guides. I love seeing what others think is a neat gift. To hopefully eliminate some stress, I’m sharing a few of my go-to presents that could work for almost anyone on your list. I even keep some of these of hand for the when I need an unexpected gift. Happy shopping!
I love candles and almost always have one (or several) burning in my house. And of course, Christmas candles are my favorite – I love the Christmas tree smell! They also make the perfect gift. My go-to candle is from Anthropologie, but if you really want to splurge, you can never go wrong with Jo Malone.
You’ll never find me without my 24oz Corkcicle on my desk. It’s one of my favorite things as it keeps my drinks hot or cold. These make great gifts as they come in lots of fun colors, and you can even monogram them. Last year I gave a monogramed Corkcicle to my mother and my mother-in-law.
I know, a gift basket? It sounds outdated, but when done correctly I think they make the perfect gift. A barbecue themed basket for the grill master in your life, Dylan’s Candy Bar assortment for the chocolate lover on your list or a decadent wine and crackers arrangement for your wine lover (or yourself). It can be truly personalized which makes the gift meaningful.
This nifty kit will transform boring airplane beverages into cocktails such as an old fashioned. It makes the perfect stocking stuffer or secret Santa gift. Your friends will thank you next time they endure a long flight. I’ve got a few of these on hand for upcoming Christmas parties!

This item falls into the category of things I’d love to have, but never buy for myself. Which to me signals that it’s a great gift. There are thousands to chose from. Chanel, Vanity Fair: The Portraits – A Century of Iconic Images and Great Houses of the South are my favorites. A dear friend gifted me a copy of Vogue Weddings: Brides, Dresses, Designers during my wedding and its proudly displayed in my living room, one of my favorite gifts!
