The PGA Tour Returns to The Cliffs in 2018
January 17, 2018
The Cliffs, a portfolio of seven luxury mountain and lake club communities in the western Carolinas, announces it will again host the PGA Tour in 2018. A portion of the PGA Web.com Tour BMW Charity Pro-Am Presented by SYNNEX Corporation will take place May 17-20, 2018, at The Cliffs Valley golf course, marking the first time The Cliffs has hosted a PGA Tour event since 2008.
“We are thrilled to host the PGA Web.com Tour BMW Charity Pro-Am Presented by SYNNEX and welcome the competing celebrities, Tour players, amateurs, volunteers and spectators to The Cliffs Valley this spring,” said David Sawyer, president of The Cliffs Clubs. “It is an honor to partner with organizations that are equally committed to giving back to the local community. BMW and SYNNEX’s strong presence in the Greenville area have continued to provide support to many local charities, and we look forward to partnering with them for yet another successful series.”
Each year, the PGA Tour Web.com BMW Charity Pro-Am Presented by SYNNEX Corporation raises more than $500,000 for charities across South Carolina, having distributed nearly $13 million to more than 200 charities since the tournament’s inception in 2001. Among the charitable beneficiaries for 2018 is Cliffs Residents Outreach (CRO), a 501(c)3 non-profit, 100 percent volunteer organization comprised of members from The Cliffs’ six South Carolina communities. CRO is dedicated to enabling Upstate children to succeed by focusing on literacy, nutrition and mentoring for kids in Greenville, Pickens and Oconee counties. In 2017, CRO equipped more than 5,000 children from early childhood through college for success by raising more than $500,000 and donating 18,000 volunteer hours.
The first American course designed by world-renowned golf commentator Ben Wright, The Cliffs Valley course opened in 1995 and last year underwent a half-million-dollar renovation. Challenging golfers to play over and around streams, ponds and rolling hills, the parkland-style course is one of seven of The Cliffs nationally acclaimed courses.
